ARe you thinking, ‘hey, What’s a Galt?’

Galt, now a district of Cambridge, Ontario, was founded in 1816 by William Dickson and originally called Shade's Mills. It was renamed Galt in 1827 after Scottish novelist John Galt. The town grew as an industrial center along the Grand River and was incorporated in 1857 before merging with Preston and Hespeler to form the city of Cambridge in 1973.  Galt is also home to The Tiny Paint Company.
