About Beer and Cheddar Soup - Artist’s Note:
“When OG Bottle Shop opened, our little community was so grateful for a new spot in town to gather, listen to music, grab a pint, socialize, and feel a part of a community. This became a favourite spot for my husband, Wes, and I. We’re often those annoying people taking up a picnic table to spread out all of our snacks and play Dutch Blitz, Monopoly Deal, or some other game (I promise we don’t occupy an 8-person table always, I swear). We’ve loved seeing OGBS evolve and grow since its opening, and their snacking menu never disappoints. With curated, tried-and-true favourites, it’s a place that feels like home. This particular piece is a slightly tongue-in-cheek nod to my personal favourite (now rotational) menu item, Beer and Cheddar Soup, which single-handedly got me through a second oral surgery, when the OGBS team graciously let us order 6 Litres (yes, SIX LITRES), of my favourite snack, which I gratefully ate with a syringe for many, many weeks, never once tiring of it. We joke that when this menu item went rotational/seasonal, we think Rob (one of the amazing owners) was nervous to tell us, and made Wes tell me instead. I forgive them, but it’s still my favourite. This piece is a nod to the quiet afternoons spent snacking, enjoying a beverage, and connecting over good food and games with those you love - always our favourite thing to do.”
